WHAT OFFERS DO YOU HAVE RIGHT NOW?
CAN I DO A PILATES TRIAL CLASS BEFORE COMMITTING TO A PACKAGE?
Of course! If you're new to our studio we're happy to invite you to try your first Private Pilates session with 50% off. This is usually on the Reformer but can also be on the Cadillac, Wunda Chair or Mat - depending on what your instructor feels works best for you!
During this session, the instructor takes you through a full 55 minute session of exercises while evaluating your movement and areas to focus on should you choose to continue. After your first trial, you're then welcome to enjoy our introductory package of 5 Private Sessions. You can see the details of all our current promotions here.
If you’re looking to try our small Group Classes, you can get 50% off your first class and take advantage of our new client promotion on your first 5 classes. Details can be found here! Feel free to get in touch for more information.
ARE YOUR PILATES CLASSES SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS?
We recommend Pilates newbies to have at least one Private Session before joining Group or Duet classes. This is so that our experienced, caring instructors can assess your movement patterns and ability, and recommend the correct class level, type and apparatus for your personal needs and goals. They will also introduce you to the fundamental Pilates principles and guide you in how to use the equipment. This allows you to get the most out of your Group Class session.
If you are totally new to Pilates and only wish to join Group Classes (not Private Sessions), we highly recommend our ‘Reformer Fundamentals’ class that is designed specifically for beginners. It focuses on the core Pilates movements, building strength and improving your mobility and flexibility. As the class sizes are small, every client gets close attention from the instructor to ensure you’re staying safe. They will also be able to tell you when you’re ready to progress to the next class level.
You can see our Group Class schedule here, along with descriptions of each class type.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN A GROUP CLASS?
From the day we first opened the SmartFit studio doors, we have always kept our Group Classes small. This is to make sure that each and every client gets the support and attention they need for a safe, effective workout. Currently, we have a maximum of 6 clients per class.
If you have a group of 3 or 4 friends or family members who wish to attend a regular class together, we can create a dedicated private group class just for you. This can be held on the Mat, Reformer or TRX, and can be scheduled at a time that suits your group. The pricing for this can be seen under ‘Semi-Private Group Classes’ on our Pricing page. For more details, you can get in touch with us here.
HOW DO I BOOK A CLASS?
There are two ways to book… You can either use the MindBody app or login via our website (click 'My Account' at the top of this page). If you are new to SmartFit, you’ll need to create an account with us first - don’t worry it doesn’t take long! You can purchase Group and Private packages on the app and via our website too. All our current pricing can be seen here. If you have any problems, get in touch with us - we would be happy to help get your Group Class or Private Session booked in for you.
All of our Group Classes as well as Private Sessions, Duet Sessions and Semi-Private Group Classes are 55 minutes.
HOW LONG IS A CLASS / PRIVATE SESSION?
Yes! Our international team of instructors lead Group Classes in English, Japanese and Korean, and can teach Private/Duet sessions in English, Korean, Mandarin, Bahasa, Hindi, Japanese and more. You can see which instructor speaks which languages on our Meet The Team page.

We all have busy lives, so how often you practice definitely depends on how much time you can carve out. However, our general recommendation is 2-3 times per week to see and feel improvements more quickly (e.g. get stronger, have better balance, tone up, become more flexible, etc.) If you're doing Pilates in addition to other exercise (such as playing sport) then you may wish to attend just 1-2 times per week for a bit of variation in your training and to support your other workouts. The minimum we would advise is once a week - a weekly practice still allows you to gradually make progress and you should see and feel the difference in a few months. Any less than this, your body and muscles tend to forget the movements and engagement patterns you learnt the previous time.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO PILATES?
IS PILATES GOOD FOR SPORTS?
Absolutely - as many athletes will attest! Pilates can help you to become stronger, more flexible and with better mobility and control - all of which can improve your performance in many sports, including running, golf, tennis, horse-riding and weightlifting. Furthermore, Pilates balances and aligns your body. Many sports can end up creating extreme imbalances, whether it’s muscle groups that keep getting strengthened while others are not (e.g. cycling) or reinforcing a dominant side (racket sports). When you strengthen your muscles holistically, learn how to engage your core muscles and develop precision and alignment in your movement, besides boosting your performance, you’ll also be reducing and preventing injuries.
Some of our instructors specialise in sport-specific training and can tailor your training to the specific needs of your activity, personal goals and strengths/weaknesses on the track, pitch or course. Come and give it a try and feel the difference.
I LIKE HIGH-INTENSITY WORKOUTS - WILL PILATES BE TOO EASY FOR ME?
As the saying goes… “If it’s easy, it’s probably not Pilates!”
The Reformer adds resistance and instability (hello, moving platform) to all Pilates exercises, so trust us when we say that low-impact doesn't mean low effort! It’s also designed to isolate muscles allowing you to target the stabilising muscles that get overlooked in fast-paced exercises. As anyone who has done Pilates will tell you, sometimes the smallest movements can be the most challenging - and you’ll definitely still feel a burn.
If you’re someone who prefers a sweaty, higher-energy workout, you’ll love our ‘Reformer HIIT’ class on the jump-board, and the amazing fusion workout that is ‘Reformer & TRX’ that swaps between both types of equipment. Both classes will work your body from head to toe, get your heart rate pumping and help to sculpt a toned physique - while being friendly for your joints. Whichever class you choose, each and every one is carefully designed by our experienced, highly-qualified instructors to both challenge you and change you, and is sure to get those muscles shaking! Check out our Group Class schedule here, and come and try them for yourself.
If you go Private, your instructor will tailor every moment to your needs and goals, so if you’re looking for a higher-intensity session, they will most certainly deliver an effective workout that keeps your body safe!
Definitely. Pilates classes at SmartFit come highly recommended by physiotherapists and osteopaths island-wide as they're so effective at helping to correct alignment, improve posture, support injury recovery, strengthen your muscles, stretch out stiffness and mobilise your spine - all of which may be contributing to your back or neck pain. If you're suffering with chronic pain, Private Sessions would be the best way for you to practice Pilates as your instructor can tailor the exercises entirely to your body and needs, to help ease or alleviate your pain. If you have a specific condition, we are more than happy to discuss your needs and get you booked in with the most relevant instructor. Contact us here and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
IS PILATES GOOD FOR BACK PAIN AND/OR NECK PAIN?
Yes, several of our instructors are highly-qualified and highly-experienced in Pilates for pregnancy as well as post-natal Pilates. Currently we offer these sessions in a Pre-Natal Group class, one-on-one (Private) or for two people (Duet). The group class can be held on the Mat and Reformer, while private sessions might include the Cadillac, Chair or Ladder Barrel and will be tailored to your needs and goals. Your instructor will adapt the exercises for where you are right now in your pregnancy/pre-natal journey. Do note that we will require you to be cleared by your gynaecologist for exercise before starting our group/private classes.

DO YOU DO PRE-NATAL PILATES AND/OR POST-NATAL PILATES?
Every instructor in SmartFit is certified to teach Mat and Reformer by an international Pilates organisation and incredibly passionate about Pilates. They are able to assess your movements and tailor exercises to improve your posture and alignment, build strength, increase flexibility, mobility, balance, reduce common aches and pains as well as meet your other goals. They are also equipped to deal with physical conditions such as scoliosis or common injuries. Continued learning is a trait of our instructors that we encourage - regularly undertaking new qualifications in Pilates and other forms of fitness so they stay up to date on the latest research, exercises and equipment. We do also provide in-studio training for our instructors to help them upgrade their teaching skills.
To become a Senior Instructor, these fantastic practitioners must be fully certified in all apparatus, have a minimum of 6 years of experience and an ability to work with all medical conditions, injuries and population, even the most severe cases as long as they are cleared for exercise by their doctors. This is the main difference between instructors and senior instructors.
